Quartz

This Quartz crystal is very rare, the only one I have ever seen that is like it.  It is a doubly terminated tabular transparent crystal that broke at one time, it actually was torn in that it never completely broke apart.  It healed leaving a splinter to keep growing away from the main part, and left a crack that sealed itself back on one side.  It came from a feldspar quarry in Gov. Valadares know as the Lavra do Ipe.  There were also Smoky Quartz and Apatite specimens found there.  This was in the office of the owner who sold it to Jack in the 1970's.  Click on photo to see other views.
